Stock Track | Rocket Lab Stock Plummets 5.08% Intraday Amid Earnings Anticipation and Neutron Rocket Delays

Stock Track00:59

Rocket Lab USA, Inc. (RKLB) shares plummeted 5.08% during intraday trading on Thursday, as investors showed caution ahead of the company's upcoming earnings report and reacted to broader sector pressures.

The space launch services provider is set to release earnings after the market close. According to analyst reports, space stocks have retreated since late April, paring much of the sector's rally from earlier this year. This pullback comes amid anticipation for SpaceX's upcoming initial public offering, which could reshape the competitive landscape.

Specific concerns for Rocket Lab include the delayed development schedule for its medium-lift Neutron rocket. The company cited an earlier stage one tank test failure and is now targeting the fourth quarter for the rocket's first launch. Despite this, Roth Capital recently raised its price target on RKLB stock, noting continued momentum across its launch and space systems segments and positioning to benefit from acceleration in space technology and defense spending.
