Shares of WeRide surged more than 20% in Hong Kong and in US overnight trading. At the time of writing, the stock was up 16.07%, trading at HK$19.28 with a turnover of approximately HK$33.08 million.
Reports have emerged indicating that WeRide is exploring the possibility of spinning off its Robovan (autonomous cargo vehicle) business unit to secure independent financing. The reported valuation for this specific business has reached US$4 billion.
The company officially launched its Robovan product in February 2025. The vehicles have already obtained road testing licenses in Guangzhou and have commenced on-road trials. When approached for comment on these reports, an internal source from the company stated there was "no information to share at this time."
It is noteworthy that on June 10th, following a meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, the company announced plans for a comprehensive deployment of its Level 4 autonomous driving product portfolio in Slovakia. The initiative will begin with testing in Bratislava before expanding to Kosice and the High Tatras region. Certain vehicle models are scheduled to commence public commercial operations within 2026, with plans to advance to fully unmanned operations upon compliance with European Union regulations.
