Recently, the "busiest five-person group online" and Baidu's document "10,000 Common Chinese Names" have exposed numerous irregularities. Names like "Zhang Jiwei" and "Lin Guorui" have been widely copied and pasted across various contexts—from government procurement review experts to calligraphy competition winners, from individuals listed in administrative penalty notices to beneficiaries of university charity programs, and even appearing in badminton tournament rosters, sparking widespread public debate.
On December 7, it was discovered that in the 2023 Children's Host Competition organized by Tongling Radio and Television Station in Anhui Province, multiple award-winning participants shared names with those listed in the "10,000 Common Chinese Names" database. On May 5, 2023, the station's official WeChat account announced the conclusion of the event, publishing the list of first, second, and third prize winners.
Notably, at least 47 third-prize winners—including Li Yuquan, Huang Yunhuan, Wu Yunru, Li Zhaofen, Ruan Xinxue, Wu Junbo, Huang Yanyi, Lu Muzhong, Li Chengbo, Fang Zhaoyu, Liu Yihui, Ding Hanzhen, Wu Jiarui, Shu Lüpei, Zhou Baizhi, Zhang Ziyu, Wu Meiyu, Xie Yanwen, Fu Zhixiang, Hong Zhenxia, Liu Ziting, Rong Zikang, Lin Zifan, Yang Peifang, Huang Wenwang, Zheng Liqing, Xu Zhiyun, Zhang Menghan, Huang Shengmei, Pan Xinzhen, Zhou Mengru, Gao Yongyu, Li Ziling, Chen Shuyu, Shen Junjun, Lin Huiying, Wang Junmin, Zhang Yihu, Huang Yulin, Lai Yiyi, Jin Yaqi, Wu Shufen, Li Jianzhi, Chen Yiyi, Lin Peiling, Wu Sihan, and Weng Huizhu—had names identical to those in the database.
Additionally, a list published on April 25, 2023, by the station's official WeChat account included participants' names, groups, and birthdates. For example, Li Yuquan, in elementary school Group C, was born on June 3, 2011. Public records show that the competition, held from April 29 to May 1, 2023, was guided by the China Musical Association and co-organized by Tongling Radio and Television Station and Beijing Zhongchuan Huashao Education Technology Research Institute, followed by provincial rounds, a national showcase, and an arts gala.
