China is raising tariffs on U.S. imports to 84% from 34%, in Beijing's latest response to President Trump's reciprocal levies.
The Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council said the new tariffs will take effect on Thursday.

Beijing said last week that it would impose 34% tariffs on U.S. goods, prompting Trump to escalate tariffs on Chinese imports to 84%. This brings the total cumulative tariffs on Chinese goods this year to 104%.
Additionally, China's Ministry of Commerce said Thursday that it has lodged a complaint against the latest U.S. tariff measures under the World Trade Organization's dispute settlement mechanism.
The ministry also said that it has added 12 U.S. entities to China's export control list.
The 12 companies include American Photonics, Novotech and Echodyne, among others.
