Amazon.com Inc. has signaled to publishing industry executives that it is planning to launch a marketplace where publishers can sell their content to companies offering artificial intelligence products, according to a Monday report from The Information. The report cited two individuals who have spoken with Amazon about the initiative, noting that AWS distributed slides referencing the content marketplace ahead of a scheduled AWS conference on Tuesday. The slides reportedly positioned the marketplace alongside Amazon's core AI tools, including Bedrock and Quick Suite, when describing products publishers could utilize within their operations. The report added that publishers and AI firms are currently negotiating rules for using online content, whether for model training or generating answers for users. Publishers are seeking fees based on usage, with costs increasing as content utilization grows.
