Qianwen Extends Free Service by Three Days with Additional Discounts on Fliggy Bookings

Qianwen unexpectedly announced on February 14 that its free service promotion will be extended by three days. The platform has integrated with Damai and Fliggy, inviting users nationwide to experience new AI-powered features such as purchasing movie tickets and attraction passes, aiming to stimulate AI-driven consumption during the Spring Festival. From 3 PM today until the first day of the Lunar New Year, each user can claim an additional ten 25-yuan super free service vouchers.

Compared to the first wave of free vouchers, the super free vouchers have a broader application scope. In addition to ordering food and stocking up on New Year goods, they can also be used on Qianwen to buy movie tickets, attraction passes, book hotels, and purchase flight tickets. Qianwen will gradually introduce new functions such as AI-powered ride-hailing, mobile top-ups, group buying through Amap's street sweep rankings, and Taobao shopping, all of which will be eligible for super free voucher use. The vouchers are valid until April 30, remaining usable after the holiday period.

According to the activity page, new users who open the Qianwen app will directly receive one 25-yuan super free voucher, available to everyone and usable immediately after the activity begins. Additionally, for every new user invited to download the Qianwen app, both parties will receive one super free voucher each, with a maximum of ten vouchers obtainable. This voucher collection activity is limited to three days only.

Some netizens have compiled strategies for collecting the super free vouchers: when returning to their hometowns, they can directly share the app with relatives, friends, and classmates during gatherings, potentially collecting all ten super free vouchers on the spot.

The period around the Spring Festival holiday is also a peak travel season. The super free vouchers can be applied to flight tickets, domestic hotel bookings, and scenic spot tickets. For example, users who obtain the super free vouchers can simply tell the Qianwen app, "Book me a ticket for Hanshan Temple tomorrow." The app will quickly access Fliggy's services and thoughtfully remind users that February 14 falls on a Saturday, likely resulting in larger crowds, suggesting a morning visit for a better experience. After clicking the booking card, users can select their tickets and proceed to payment, applying the super free voucher to let Qianwen cover the expense.

It is worth noting that on February 11, Qianwen and Fliggy just announced AI collaborations with over 40 travel brands globally, including China Eastern Airlines, Wanda Hotels & Resorts, and Shanghai Disney Resort. These brands will offer customized benefits for Qianwen app users, such as discounted prices, substantial spend-and-save coupons, complimentary hotel breakfasts, and late check-out privileges, with single transactions eligible for reductions of up to 300 yuan. This means that the current wave of super free vouchers from Qianwen can be stacked with the exclusive "Qianwen Price" discounts provided by these merchants, allowing consumers to enjoy compounded savings.

An internal source from Qianwen stated, "The popularity of the first free service event far exceeded expectations, with first-day order volumes reaching ten times initial projections. Metrics for user activity and retention have been exceptionally strong. Beyond using AI for food orders and New Year shopping, many users expressed interest in experiencing more AI Agent functionalities. Therefore, we decided to launch the super free vouchers, inviting the national audience to continue exploring a全新的AI-driven lifestyle."

It was observed that on February 13, even after the conclusion of the first free service event, the Qianwen app remained ranked first on the App Store free chart, marking its eighth consecutive day at the top.

Data from QuestMobile indicates that on February 7, Qianwen's daily active users reached 73.52 million, significantly surpassing Yuanbao and approaching Doubao's 78.71 million. Qianwen achieved a user base comparable to Doubao's three-year growth in just three months. Industry insiders noted that this sets a new record for app growth over the past decade.

Following Qianwen's spark in AI-driven shopping within China, U.S. tech giant Alphabet is quickly following suit. On February 11, Alphabet announced the integration of shopping features into its AI assistant Gemini, enabling consumers to shop seamlessly through Google Search's AI mode and while chatting with Gemini.
