Shares of Reddit (NASDAQ: RDDT) surged more than 10% at the opening of Wednesday's trading session, reaching a five-month high, with the stock currently priced at $192.22.

The company's international growth remains in its "early stages," according to Chief Financial Officer Drew Vollero, who stated that the firm is currently focused on three key priorities to boost its number of daily active unique users. This strategy has already shown initial signs of success, with the company reporting a 17% year-over-year increase in daily active unique users for the first quarter.

"Increasing daily active unique users is a major focus for us," Vollero said, referencing CEO Steve Huffman's goal of enhancing users' daily engagement with the platform. "As we think about how to drive this metric, I believe the key lies in improving three areas: reach, frequency, and depth of engagement. Reddit already has excellent reach, but there is more that can be done to grow its 200 million weekly active users in the U.S. and 500 million globally."
