Data security and AI operations firm Rubrik Inc. has announced its membership in the Coalition for Health AI (CHAI), committing to collaborate with other alliance members on cyber resilience and AI governance to jointly advance the responsible development, deployment, and application of AI in the healthcare sector.
CHAI is an industry-led consortium bringing together nearly 3,000 organizations, including healthcare systems, patient advocacy groups, academic institutions, and technology providers. The alliance operates multiple working groups, focusing on critical issues such as the privacy, security, transparency, utility, and safety of AI algorithms. Recently, CHAI also established a model card registry, providing standardized, nutrition-label-like documentation for healthcare AI to simplify procurement processes for healthcare institutions and technology vendors.
The healthcare industry faces particularly severe data security challenges. Data shows that healthcare organizations need to protect 50% more sensitive data than the global average, and cyberattacks can directly disrupt patient care and even endanger lives. As the healthcare sector accelerates its adoption of AI technologies, safeguarding patient information security and business continuity has become critically important.
Josh Howell, Chief Technology Officer for Healthcare at Rubrik, stated that the potential of AI to transform healthcare is immense, but scaling it responsibly requires robust protective measures, timely operational recovery capabilities, and comprehensive abilities to monitor, govern, and audit AI behavior. By joining CHAI, Rubrik will contribute its specialized expertise to the broader healthcare ecosystem, working with the alliance to redefine frameworks for cyber resilience and governance in the AI era.
Brian Anderson, CEO of CHAI, welcomed Rubrik's membership, expressing anticipation for the collaboration to unlock AI's potential benefits on a foundation of trust, safety, and reliability.
Currently, Rubrik is engaged in several partnerships within the healthcare field. The company was recently selected as the preferred cybersecurity resilience provider by the American Hospital Association, offering cyber resilience and data protection tools to nearly 5,000 member hospitals. Furthermore, Rubrik has also entered a strategic partnership with healthcare IT services provider MEDITECH to deliver unified cyber resilience solutions for healthcare systems across cloud and on-premises environments. This helps ensure their critical data remains immutable and rapidly recoverable in the event of a cyberattack, thereby safeguarding the continuity of patient care.
