The WeRide Inc. (WRD.US, 00800)-equipped Chery Exeed Sterra ES has once again clinched the championship title, securing an unprecedented and so far unmatched "six-peat" at the second China Intelligent Driving Championship - Tianjin Station, hosted by D1EV.COM on June 14th. This victory further solidifies the industry-leading position of WeRide's WRD 3.0 system in terms of seamless full-functionality experience and consistent performance across all scenarios.
Evolution of the Competition Format
The Tianjin Station of the championship introduced a pivotal upgrade to its rules, for the first time incorporating P2P NOA (Parking-to-Parking Navigate on Autopilot) capabilities into the scoring system. This marks the initial assessment of an ADAS's comprehensive ability to autonomously navigate the entire chain: exiting a parking space, passing through barriers, driving on complex public roads, and finally parking into a target space. Concurrently, the scoring criteria were tightened: failures in exiting or entering a parking space result in direct point deductions, and all manual interventions (including accelerator input) are counted as errors. Under this more rigorous framework, the championship has evolved from testing urban driving scenario capabilities to a comprehensive evaluation of the entire intelligent driving system's continuity, stability, and reliability.
Demonstrating Systematic Superiority
Facing this high-intensity, full-process assessment, WeRide's WRD 3.0 demonstrated significant systematic advantages. It not only accomplishes complex tasks but also delivers consistent, robust, and high-level performance across different scenarios. This serves as evidence supporting the feasibility and leading edge of the one-stage, end-to-end large model approach in complex real-world environments. Compared to modular or two-stage solutions, which often suffer from information fragmentation and inconsistent strategies during cross-scene transitions, WRD 3.0 utilizes a unified end-to-end large model to simultaneously cover both driving and parking scenarios. This enables unified modeling and decision-making from structured roads to unstructured parking spaces. In low-speed parking scenarios, the system can generate more precise and stable trajectories for complex parking spaces and garage environments. During high-speed and complex urban dynamic interactions, the system also adeptly handles multi-party interactions with other vehicles, VRUs (Vulnerable Road Users), and complex traffic participants.
The Path to Commercialization and Scale
2026 is a pivotal year for WeRide's WRD 3.0 as it accelerates commercialization and the realization of scale effects. To date, the solution has been designated for mass production in over 30 models from Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. and GAC Group, with ongoing expansion to more OEMs and computing platforms, continuously speeding up its commercial deployment pace. Notably, the 2027 Chery Exeed ES, equipped with the same championship-winning ADAS solution, has commenced pre-sales with a starting guide price of 189,900 RMB, offering exclusive pre-sale benefits for deliveries before July 31st.
Looking ahead, WeRide will focus on delivering a more refined and stable user experience as its core driving force. The company will continue to promote the technological iteration and large-scale application of WRD 3.0 across different vehicle models and scenarios, aiming to provide a reassuring, easy-to-use, and relaxing assisted driving experience for more consumers globally.
