Post-Covid-19 Travel Demand Supported by Events, Aging Tourists, Trip.com CEO Says -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-23 19:14

1114 GMT - There is increased demand for traveling following the global disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and tourists are seeking more event-related trips, Trip.com Group's chief executive, Jane Sun, says at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Sun says that the top priorities when deciding where to visit are the region's safety, visa requirements and the existence of direct flights. She adds that event-related trips, such as Taylor Swift concerts, are helping to boost travel demand. Meanwhile, the industry is adapting to cater to the older population, a segment which is becoming more important given their financial power and availability to travel in different moments of the year rather than the peak periods, she adds.
