CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens lower with global markets on edge ahead of new US tariffs

April 2 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened lower on Wednesday ahead of U.S. President Donald Trump's reciprocal tariff announcement, with investors fearing significant ripple effects on global economic growth.

At 9:31 a.m. ET (1431 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 0.8% at 24,827.54 points.
