    Insane. Most car insurance only pay $1 million for a fatal crash.  How did they come up with $234 million?  Seems like blatant extortion.

    The Tesla cash pile has already been drawing lower. And with falling sales and margins from EV price wars, this will likely fall further. This $243m penalty may be easily absorbed still by Tesla, you have to worry about the likely floodgate this has opened. There are other cases pending. And with this judgement against Tesla, this will likey encourage more law suits to be registered. Do remember that the US has git a wonderful practice of lawyers who earn loads by just suing each other.  So just how much more can Tesla take?
