Iran said Saturday it will close the Strait of Hormuz again and maintain restrictions on shipping until the U.S. lifts what it described as a naval blockade on Iranian vessels and ports. The statement, attributed to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps navy, said some civilian vessels had previously transited under its coordination, but accused Washington of violating cease-fire terms by failing to remove maritime restrictions.
It warned that no ships should leave anchorage in the Persian Gulf or the Gulf of Oman, adding that any vessel approaching the strait would be treated as "cooperating with the enemy" and could be targeted. The statement added: "The Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the blockade is lifted," and urged vessels to follow only IRGC navy instructions, dismissing U.S. statements as invalid.
