Trump Warns Iran Will Be Held Responsible for Houthi Attacks

Trump's Truth Social latest posts07-23

President Donald Trump on July 23 issued a stern warning that the United States will hold Iran responsible for any future attacks by the Houthi rebels, whom he described as a proxy of Iran.

In a post on X, Trump recalled that a year ago the U.S. launched a powerful attack against the Houthis for interfering with commerce by shooting at ships. He noted that since then, and during the conflict with Iran, the Houthis "have acted very responsibly." However, he said they "are starting up again, shooting at two Saudi Arabian ships last night."

"Please let this TRUTH serve to represent that if they do this again, the U.S. will hold Iran responsible, in that the Houthis are a Surrogate and/or Proxy of Iran, and major military punishment will be inflicted upon Iran and, of course, the Houthis, themselves," Trump wrote. He expressed disappointment with the Houthis, who he said had until now "acted very professionally and smart."
