Trump Threatens to Bomb Iranian Bridges, Power Plants if Ships Attacked

Trump's Truth Social latest posts07-22

President Donald J. Trump announced on X on July 22 that the United States will retaliate against the Islamic Republic of Iran by bombing and destroying one bridge or power plant, including those in or near Tehran, whenever Iran attacks a ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

"From this point forward, any time the Islamic Republic of Iran shoots at a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, whether it be by Missile, Rocket, Drone, or any other device or weapon, the United States will bomb and destroy ONE BRIDGE OR POWER PLANT, including those located next to, or in, the Capital City of Tehran," Trump wrote.

The statement escalates tensions in the strategic waterway, through which about 20% of the world's oil passes. Trump did not specify a timeline or conditions for the threat, nor did he cite any specific recent incident. The post was made on the president's personal account on the social media platform X.
