President Donald Trump on August 1 threatened to keep Todd Blanche as acting Attorney General and push for the Anti-Weaponization Bill if Senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis do not approve Blanche's nomination. Trump made the remarks on X, criticizing the two Republican senators for being upset because he did not endorse them in their respective races.

"If Senators Cornyn and Tillis, both upset because I wouldn't Endorse them (they lost, and quit, respectively!), aren't going to approve Todd Blanche, one of the most respected professionals, according to everybody, in the Country, to be the United States Attorney General, then I will keep Todd as Acting A.G., and push hard to get the Anti-Weaponization Bill, which takes care of those who have been so badly treated by the Crooked Joe Biden (and Obuma!) Administration (I get nothing, although I was treated horribly!), PASSED," Trump wrote.

Blanche, a former federal prosecutor and defense attorney, was a key figure in Trump's legal team. Trump described Blanche as "a voice of reason" and said the bill would immediately be back on the table if the nomination is blocked. The threat underscores ongoing tensions between Trump and Senate Republicans over judicial and executive appointments.
