Trump: Reflecting Pool damage was vandalism, not contractor issue

Trump's Truth Social latest posts02:31

President Donald Trump on Thursday rejected Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, characterization of damage to the Reflecting Pool, calling it a "pure case of VANDALISM."

In a post on X, Trump said he disagreed 100% with Pirro, noting that the grass was "emblazoned in giant letters" with the numbers "86 47" and that other elements of the surrounding area were also damaged. "To me, it was a pure case of VANDALISM," he wrote, adding that while there may have been some contractor difficulty, "the major damage was caused by VANDALS!"

The President did not provide further details on the incident or the specific assessment by Pirro, but his remarks underscore a sharp disagreement with the federal prosecutor over the nature of the damage.
