MT Newswires Live11:09

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (KRX:329180) has launched the first of two landing support vessels jointly built with Peru's state-owned shipyard SIMA for the Peruvian Navy, Yonhap News reported on Wednesday, citing the company at the launch event.

The launch ceremony of the BAP Chimbote was attended by Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries President Joo Won-ho, the news daily said.

The vessel is part of a 2024 order for four ships, including a frigate and an offshore patrol vessel, with the second landing support vessel, BAP Talara, having completed onshore construction earlier this month, the publication said.

Under the project, HD Hyundai provides design and technical support while SIMA handles block production, assembly, testing and sea trials, the report said.
