Market Chatter: Tesla Cars Not Being Recalled in Europe Over Door Issue

Tesla (TSLA) vehicles in Europe are currently not subject to a recall over concerns that doors may be difficult to open in an emergency, Dutch road safety authority RDW said, Reuters reported Wednesday.

On Aug. 21, China's State Administration for Market Regulation said Tesla was recalling more than 5.7 million vehicles in the country over two separate safety issues involving emergency door handles and driver-attention monitoring.

The recalls covered nearly 3 million domestically produced and imported Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X vehicles whose emergency mechanical door handles may be difficult to identify after a crash if the low-voltage system fails, it said.

Shares of Tesla were down 1% pre-bell.
