Apple Ordered to Pay $5.72 Billion in Damages to Taction Technology for Patent Infringement

Apple (AAPL) was ordered to pay about $5.72 billion in damages after a US jury found that the company has infringed patents held by Taction Technology, according to a Friday court filing.

In the filing, the jury agreed that Apple has infringed two Taction patents and failed to prove that Taction's claims were invalid.

Taction sued Apple in 2021 for patent infringement, claiming that the tech giant's Taptic Engine used in several iPhone and Apple Watch models "has infringed and continues to infringe, directly and indirectly," two of its patents.

Reuters said Apple plans to appeal the jury's verdict.

Apple did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for a comment.
