The price of homes in New Zealand are in my opinion out of touch with the rest of the world in more ways than one. Many homes built 90 years ago are actually still being used today and part of the inventory that comes to market with no insulation in the walls. Yes government introduced a Healthy Homes standard , however this does not address the issue and then these very homes are sold at so called market related prices when comparing them to a new build. These homes should either be demolished or carry a price tag that's way less than the average market related pricing ... yet , consumers seem to be oblivious to this and pay a premium for a property that has had no maintenance for the last 40-90 years, shocking. Real estate agencies & banks should take note and make this known to every potential new home owner thinking of buying such properties. It has nothing to do with supply & demand , but rather a lack of knowledge & understanding within this sector.
