This week, Singapore announced its 2025 fiscal budget. The budget covers various aspects, including living subsidies (S$800 CDC Vouchers), childbirth incentives (S$5,000 bonus for each third child), reduced tuition fees, employment and job support, business subsidies, transportation, and housing.

One of the most relevant topics for workers is salary increases. The planned wage adjustments will take effect in 2025, with higher increments over the next two years.

In recent years, Singaporeans have struggled with inflation. Although inflation has fallen to 1.6%, the cost of living remains high without wage growth.

So, is a pay raise really coming?

The new budget aims to increase wages for low-income workers while helping employers manage labor costs. To achieve this, the government will enhance the Progressive Wage Credit Scheme (PWCS) by raising subsidies for wage increases.

  • In 2025, the government will increase its co-funding for wage increments from 30% to 40%.

  • In 2026, the subsidy will rise from 15% to 20%.

According to Singapore's 2024 median salary data across different age groups and education levels, the median wage stands at around SGD 5,000.

While the government has introduced these support measures, actual salary increases will still depend on the economy and individual company performance.

The SG Budget 2025 gives every Singaporean household S$800 in CDC vouchers. The budget tried to adress the Inflation which is the biggest worry all of us have. The government has given us some short term goodies with hope that it may help them win the coming election. The long term horizon action items would be painful so it is not announced this round. $800 in CDC vouchers for use in limited places actually benefit some type of chosen vendors. Others such as income tax rebate comes with conditions / cap at $200 actually make us more sad than happy. The worst part of this budget is that majority of us get no real ‘relieve’ or ‘real’ help from the government. The wage adjustment plan benefits very small number of citizens. Based on the news articles related to the Singapore Budget 2025, there is no specific news article directly addressing the wage adjustment plan and the overall impact on individuals. However, I can provide you with some insights based on the information available.

The Singapore Budget 2025 includes various measures to address the concerns of inflation and provide support to households. The S$800 CDC vouchers are aimed at easing the financial burden for Singaporean households, and the childbirth incentives and reduced tuition fees are additional benefits provided to citizens.

Regarding the wage adjustment plan, the government is enhancing the Progressive Wage Credit Scheme (PWCS) to support wage increases for low-income workers. The co-funding for wage increments will be increased from 30% to 40% in 2025 and from 15% to 20% in 2026. However, it's important to note that actual salary increases will still depend on the economy and individual company performance.

In terms of the best and worst parts of the budget, it is subjective and may vary based on individual perspectives. Some people may appreciate the measures taken to address inflation and provide financial support, while others may feel that the benefits are not sufficient or do not directly address their specific needs.

Without further information, it is difficult to determine if you will directly benefit from the wage adjustment plan. It would be best to stay updated on any developments and changes in your specific industry and company.

Budget 2025 takes positive steps to support workers, especially low-income earners, through wage subsidies. The enhanced PWCS helps companies raise salaries with government co-funding, but its impact on my own salary remains uncertain. Wage growth still depends on my company’s performance & industry trends.

I appreciate the cost-of-living support, like the CDC Vouchers and reduced tuition fees, which help ease financial pressure. Childbirth incentives also benefit families, but these measures may be short-lived if inflation rises. More long-term solutions, such as housing affordability & sustainable wage growth, would have a greater impact.

Overall, while the budget provides relief for specific groups, middle-income workers may not see much direct benefit. Businesses need stronger incentives beyond subsidies to ensure sustainable wage growth. Its success will depend on how well these policies are implemented.

The 2025 Singapore fiscal budget includes measures to support workers, particularly low-income earners, through wage subsidies. The government will enhance the Progressive Wage Credit Scheme (PWCS), increasing co-funding for wage increments from 30% to 40% in 2025 and from 15% to 20% in 2026. This aims to raise salaries and provide financial relief to individuals. However, the actual impact on individual salaries remains uncertain as wage growth depends on company performance and industry trends.

The budget also addresses cost-of-living concerns by implementing measures such as CDC Vouchers and reduced tuition fees. These initiatives aim to alleviate financial pressure and support individuals and families. Additionally, childbirth incentives provide benefits to families. However, it is important to note that these measures may be short-lived if inflation rises.

While the budget provides relief for specific groups, middle-income workers may not see significant direct benefits. To ensure sustainable wage growth, businesses need stronger incentives beyond subsidies. Long-term solutions such as housing affordability and sustainable wage growth would have a greater impact.

The success of these policies will depend on how well they are implemented and their effectiveness in addressing the needs of workers. It is crucial to monitor the progress and outcomes of these measures over time.

I like the cash bit [Chuckle]but I m not entitled to it due to the criteria. [LOL][Happy]

I hate CDC vouchers especially supermarket as I don’t think they will bring back $5 denomination. I m being force to buy at least $10 or keep it for a raining day. [Anger]

Gone are the days where I will check what are my entitlements. Now I just have to check my bank account or CPF to determine what I will get when everyone is talking about it.

I just hope that Gov will not remove 2.5xdonation for income tax. I m relying heavily for bringing down my income tax. [Bless][Bless][Bless]🙏🙏🙏

I think I will continue to get salary increment. The bottom line is what %. 🧐🤨[Thinking]

I don’t know about my pay rise as i have retired voluntarily to look after my mum full time. What the govt is giving us, is to ease our burden a bit at least for 3 to 6 months. Looking forward to this July to Dec for this exciting payout
