I outperformed nasdaq for 2/3 of the time and recently managed to outperform it in the last 1 year or so. Here's how I did it.

Reading the book intelligent investor on chapter 8, 14,15,20 helps tremendously as I just applied core principles I learned there to my investing techniques. I also read several business and economics books and those helped me identify which sector and region to invest in. There is a specific formula in chapter 8 of intelligent investor which I used to calculate intrinsic value of a stock, multiple metrics to follow in chapter 14 and 15 where they talked about stock picks criterias of a defensive and enterprising stock picker.

The above methods I learned significantly reduces the risk I took and increases the rewards I gained from investing
