U.S. equities mostly declined on Tuesday (3 March) as the U.S.–Israel–Iran conflict entered its fourth day; the $S&P 500(.SPX)$ fell 0.9% but staged an intraday reversal from an early decline of 2.5% after the U.S. pledged to escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz. The $NASDAQ 100(NDX)$ similarly declined about 1.1% after falling as much as 2.7% earlier in the day.

Amplifying the move, the S&P 7x Short DLC rose 6.3% with the S&P 7x Long DLC falling a similar magnitude, while the Nasdaq 7x Short DLC finished up about 7.7% with the Nasdaq 7x Long DLC falling approximately the same amount.

Asian equities mirrored the overnight sell‑off on Wall Street, with regional markets opening sharply lower on Wednesday (4 March). In Hong Kong, major benchmarks slid, dragging the $HSI(HSI)$ down 2.8% and the $HSTECH(HSTECH)$ lower by 2% in the morning trading session.

Amplifying the move, the HSI 7x Short DLC surged about 20% with the HSI 7x Long DLC down by a similar magnitude, while the HSTECH 7x Short DLC was up about 14% and the HSTECH 7x Long DLC down by a similar magnitude.

Singapore markets were not spared as the $MSCI Singapore Index - Mar 2026(SGP2603)$ was down about 3.7% in morning trading session, translating into a roughly 26% rise in the SiMSCI 7x Short DLC and a similar decline in the SiMSCI 7x Long DLC.

With no near-term end in sight for the conflict, with Donald Trump stating it is “too late” for talks with Iran, geopolitical risks and uncertainty are likely to keep intraday volatility elevated.

Investors can express directional views using the DLCs - positioning for any further weakness using the Short DLCs, or Long DLCs to capture any potential rebound should markets stabilise or correct from overreaction.

VIX 11-Month High! Healthy Correction or Start of a Bear Market?
IX Index surged to its highest level since April 2025 as a wave of panic swept through Wall Street. The S&P 500 plummeted 2.5% intraday, while the Dow Jones neared a staggering 1,300-point loss, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq led the downward spiral. Is the current spike in VIX a "buy the dip" signal, or is there more downside to come? Will the S&P 500 hold 6800, or are we headed for a deeper re-rating of 2026 valuations?
