šÆ Hey Tigers!
Letās clear up one thing first:
$Oracle(ORCL)$ is not bankrupt.
The issue here is much more interesting than that.
Oracle needed massive amounts of power for a giant AI campus and couldnāt afford to wait years for a traditional grid connection.
Thatās where $Bloom Energy Corp(BE)$ came in.
ā” Bloom reportedly got the first system running in just 55 days, beating its own 90-day target by 35 days.
Oracle liked what it saw enough to expand the deal to as much as 2.8 GW.
But now thereās a problem.
š Project Jupiter in New Mexico
Oracle filed a force majeure notice because the natural-gas pipeline intended to supply the campus wonāt be completed on the original schedule.
The pipeline timeline has reportedly slipped from August 2026 to February 2027, largely because of permitting delays.
What does the force majeure notice actually do?
It gives Oracle contractual protection if circumstances outside its control prevent the project from proceeding as planned.
In practical terms, Oracle is seeking flexibility around its payment obligations if the data center is delayed and doesn't come online on the expected timeline.
And importantly, Oracle still intends to remain the site's primary tenant.
š„ The interesting part for $BE
No fuel means Bloom can't simply switch its fuel-cell systems on at this location yet.
That creates a risk that some of the expected revenue gets pushed further out.
Bloom says it can redirect equipment to other projects, while both companies continue to say the broader project remains on track.
So this isn't an Oracle insolvency story.
It's an AI infrastructure execution story.
And it's a useful reminder that building AI data centers isn't just about GPUs, servers and capital.
You also need:
Power.
Fuel.
Transmission.
Permits.
Land.
Construction.
Any one of those can become the bottleneck.
š And that raises a much bigger competitive question.
The faster a country can approve, build and connect new energy infrastructure, the faster it can potentially expand AI compute capacity.
China's more centralized infrastructure and permitting environment is one factor worth watching in that race, although this single New Mexico project isn't enough by itself to establish a broader national advantage.
