I remember going to a talk 15 years where a computer science professor talked about a computing cluster made from single units of cellphone chips and powered by solar. The idea was with about 1 million plus units scattered in the Australian desert would be a pretty good self powered super computer. SpaceX is taking this to another level, in space. This may be a better place for our cloud computing resources and terrestrial data centres.
