A pharmaceutical company ranked among the industry’s top 100 has partnered with YXT.com Group Holding Limited ( $云学堂(YXT)$ yxt ), to explore new approaches to knowledge transfer and talent development through an online learning platform, gamified learning, and AI-powered knowledge extraction.

In the pharmaceutical industry, product knowledge, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations, and frontline expertise are important assets for sustainable growth. Turning fragmented knowledge into organizational resources that can be continuously learned, transferred, and reused—and further developing employees’ professional capabilities—is a key challenge for large pharmaceutical companies.

From Fragmented Knowledge to Systematic Operations: Building a Continuous Learning Framework

As the company expanded, it accumulated substantial product knowledge, GMP regulatory information, and business expertise. However, these resources remained scattered across departments and individual employees, with limited systematic mechanisms for knowledge retention and transfer. Meanwhile, the company’s nationwide operations made it difficult for traditional in-person training to reach employees across regions, resulting in high coordination and training costs. Existing corporate culture training programs also faced challenges in sustaining employee engagement.

To address these challenges, YXT established an online learning platform for the company, supporting concurrent examinations for up to 300 participants per session and covering more than 40 departments. The platform provides a unified foundation for knowledge sharing across regions and at scale.

Building on this foundation, the two parties introduced gamified learning activities under the “Clear Dawn” project, integrating GMP regulations, product knowledge, and other content into weekly and monthly learning challenges. Points-based leaderboards and recognition boards were also introduced to encourage participation and sustained engagement. By incorporating learning into daily operations, this approach helps the company organize ongoing learning activities, track participation, and facilitate the sharing of professional knowledge and corporate culture across the organization.

Using AI to Capture Best Practices and Turn Expertise into Employee Capabilities

For pharmaceutical companies, effective knowledge transfer requires more than standardized regulatory and product information. Professional expertise must also be transformed into content that employees can learn from and apply over time.

As part of the initiative, the two parties leveraged AI to capture and organize more than 200 exemplary cases covering GMP requirements, product knowledge, and other topics, building a practical knowledge base to support pharmaceutical sales representatives’ skills development. By organizing and preserving previously fragmented expertise and practical experience, these cases provide a foundation for ongoing learning among new hires and existing employees, helping them deepen their understanding of products and business requirements while building the knowledge and skills needed for their roles.

The value of AI-powered knowledge extraction extends beyond improving the efficiency of knowledge organization. It enables more employees to access and reuse the company’s existing expertise, reduces reliance on individual experts for knowledge transfer, and provides an ongoing content foundation for talent development.

From Learning Engagement to Organizational Collaboration: Unlocking the Value of Knowledge Assets

According to project data, the “Clear Dawn” initiative attracted 5,806 participants, achieved a completion rate of 72.89%, and recorded nearly 20,000 minutes of cumulative learning time. The project also helped develop 4,762 key employees, supporting the company’s talent pipeline development. Meanwhile, 78% of employees born in the 1990s were reported to be actively engaged in learning, and the quarterly volume of cross-departmental collaboration proposals increased by 35%.

Project materials also indicate that knowledge asset accumulation efficiency improved threefold, while the time required for corporate culture dissemination decreased from three months to two weeks. At the broader business level, the company has continued to optimize six major product clusters and develop product portfolios in liver disease and oncology at the RMB 2 billion scale. Knowledge retention, employee development, and organizational collaboration can support business development, although these broader business outcomes reflect the combined effects of company-wide operations and multiple initiatives rather than any single learning project.

Supporting Organizational Productivity Through Intelligent Knowledge Systems

From online learning platforms to AI-powered knowledge extraction, this initiative illustrates how enterprise knowledge management can evolve from fragmented storage toward systematic operations: digital platforms organize learning, AI helps capture and structure professional knowledge, and continuous learning mechanisms support employees in acquiring knowledge and developing skills.

This approach aligns with YXT’s broader “Intelligent Productivity” strategy. YXT aims to integrate intelligent knowledge systems with AI capabilities, enabling enterprise knowledge not only to be captured and preserved but also to be continuously learned, understood, and applied by employees. This provides support for role-specific capability development and the reuse of organizational expertise.

For pharmaceutical companies with knowledge-intensive operations, stringent compliance requirements, and geographically dispersed teams, building systematic professional knowledge resources, activating existing expertise, and supporting employee development are essential foundations for organizational capability building. These efforts also create the conditions for AI to become more deeply integrated into workplace activities and business workflows.
