AMD's results are impressive, but a great earnings report does not automatically make a stock a great entry.
The bigger story is not simply that data-center revenue surged 97% to $8.5 billion. AMD is gradually positioning itself as a credible alternative to Nvidia across the AI infrastructure ecosystem.
Management's $17 billion Q4 revenue forecast and expectation of over 80% revenue growth in 2027 suggest that demand is accelerating rather than fading.
However, execution risks, Nvidia's competitive advantage and valuation still deserve attention.
My strategy is to avoid chasing the initial excitement. I would rather wait for profit-taking or a technical pullback before considering an entry.
Strong companies deserve attention, but even great companies can become poor investments when purchased at the wrong price.
