Consensus economists were looking for job openings to rise to 11.079 million in November, according to Bloomberg data.

Tuesday's report extends a streak of elevated readings on job openings. Vacancies rose throughout early 2021 and reached a record high of 11.098 million in July, and have retreated only modestly since then.

And while the JOLTS report for November does not yet capture any meaningful impact from the Omicron variant discovered around Thanksgiving, some economists suggested labor shortages may be exacerbated at least in the near-term due to the latest surge.

"Looking ahead, the Omicron variant wave will likely lead to some short-term weakness in the labor market," Sam Bullard, senior economist for Wells Fargo, wrote in a note published earlier this week. "However, we believe this will be temporary and that the pace of hiring should pick back up by the spring."

The JOLTS data also adds to a slew of other reports pointing to the persistent tightness in the U.S. labor market. The last monthly jobs report from the Labor Department showed a disappointing 210,000 non-farm payrolls came back in the penultimate month of last year. The labor force participation rate remained depressed compared to pre-pandemic levels, and the civilian labor force was still down by about 2.4 million participants versus levels from February 2020. And according to the latest NFIB Small Business Optimism report, nearly half of surveyed owners said they had job openings that could not be filled in November. The December jobs report is slated to be released on Friday.

But while labor shortages have continued to strain employers seeking to fill positions, leverage among workers has increased. Consensus economists were looking for job openings to rise to 11.079 million in November, according to Bloomberg data.Tuesday's report extends a streak of elevated readings on job openings. Vacancies rose throughout early 2021 and reached a record high of 11.098 million in July, and have retreated only modestly since then. And while the JOLTS report for November does not yet capture any meaningful impact from the Omicron variant discovered around Thanksgiving, some economists suggested labor shortages may be exacerbated at least in the near-term due to the latest surge.\"Looking ahead, the Omicron variant wave will likely lead to some short-term weakness in the labor market,\" Sam Bullard, senior economist for Wells Fargo, wrote in a note published earlier this week. \"However, we believe this will be temporary and that the pace of hiring should pick back up by the spring.\"The JOLTS data also adds to a slew of other reports pointing to the persistent tightness in the U.S. labor market. Shares knifed right through the 10-day and 21-day moving averages as well.It simply has to find its footing before bulls can trust it on the long side.So far, the fourth-quarter low at $129.50 has been a decent area of stability. Even amid the one break lower that sent GameStop stock to the $121.14 low, the stock was still able to close over the fourth-quarter low by the end of the session. On the plus side, it did fill today’s gap.Over Thursday high at $137.70 andaggressivebulls can be long GameStop, targeting the 10-day and 21-day moving averages as the first target, then $159 as the second.Above $160.50 and GameStop could make a run to its 50-day moving average.Otherwise, below $137.70 and the fourth-quarter low is in play, while the 2022 low remains vulnerable.Personally, I wouldn't consider GameStop a safe trade on the long side. Not after today's heavy fade.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"GME":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2662,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9001785573,"gmtCreate":1641332984240,"gmtModify":1676533597638,"author":{"id":"4090666679009510","authorId":"4090666679009510","name":"Jacksim","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cad02c18681a5073da96066b242bdaca","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"4090666679009510","idStr":"4090666679009510"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Miser] [Miser] [Miser] ","listText":"[Miser] [Miser] [Miser] ","text":"[Miser] [Miser] [Miser]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9001785573","repostId":"1108070113","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1108070113","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1641308842,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1108070113?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-04 23:07","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Job Openings Reach 10.6 Million in November as Tight Labor Market Persists","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1108070113","media":"Yahoo Finance","summary":"Demand for workers in the U.S. remained historically elevated in November, with job openings holding","content":"

Demand for workers in the U.S. remained historically elevated in November, with job openings holding near a record high amid the ongoing pandemic.

Vacancies totaled 10.562 million in November, according to the Labor Department's Job Openings and Labor Turnover Summary (JOLTS) released Tuesday. This comes is slightly lower than the 11.033 million in October, based on the government's first estimate for the month.
