Daily Charts - Returns and Rankings

1.Returns and Rankings: There are clear winners and losers across the years. Most notably, winners rarely stay winners for long, losers rarely lose for long, and they often switch places! Daily Charts - Investors are increasingly all-in on stocks

1.Investors are increasingly all-in on stocks(just as valuations reach new highs 🥴 )Image2.Tech innovation or Financial innovation?US Profit Margin expansion over the past couple of decades has been driven much more by financial innovation (lower taxes and interest expense) than any kind of technological innovation.Problem is, while AI might help, it will be hard to repeat this... and if anything some of this might reverse. $.SPX(.SPX)$ $SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust(SPY)$ Image3.Like most, I did not see DeepSeek coming, but what I did see coming (as outlined in the link below) is the huge potential for a big Shock to consensus that expects nothing from China and everything from America.Image

Here's the latest list of Global Compounders

Here's the latest list of Global Compounders.New names include: Maruwa, Fabrinet, Neurones and WW Grainger. What would you add?Want this in a spreadsheet with FCF, returns on capital and valuations? Check out the link below.ImageSome of the best companies don’t need to reinvest; so they just return excess capital through buybacks. The requirements are less stringent than to be in my investable universe and portfolio. This is just a list of companies that have compounded value over the last 10 years and have a somewhat decent business. They're certainly not a recommendation.

.SPX: What's Going on Next?

Hello everyone! Today i want to share some technical analysis with you!1.WHO LET THE PANDA OUT: (1) For last 2 years, I was in a quasi-hiberation mode, as my model/personality doesn't fit well in a slow-motion late-stage bull market. (2) this phase has ended. You may see more actions/tradings/posts from now on. (3) This👇rings the bell at 6120 [PST]Image2.As I noted clearly, the gap below would be filled, fast--one day later than I expected, though, as the new cohort of traders are dumber than I thought.Image

Let us look at Affirm - one of the Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) companies The Technical Analysis is recommending a “Strong Buy”. The Analysts’ Sentiment has a “Buy” rating with a price target of $66.06. This implies an upside of 8.17% from the current price of $61.07. Observations for Affirm: The revenue grew from $264M in 2019 to $2,323M in 2024. The gross profit grew from $156M in 2019 to $1,478M in 2024. The operating profit remained at a loss since 2019. The business has yet to break even since 2019. But the operating loss has been improving. The forecast of EPS and revenue for Affirm is -0.162 and $805.62M respectively. I would monitor the stock till it can break even.

Home sales, ICE raids & Boeing losses - News and my thoughts from last week (03Feb2025)

News and my thoughts from last week (03Feb2025) US private sector full-time jobs have DROPPED by nearly 2 MILLION over the past year. Such a drop has never happened outside of recessions. The only gain in jobs has been in the government sector. - X user Global Markets Investor 16.2% of total pending home sales in December fell out of contract, the highest December rate on record. This also marks the third-largest percentage since data began in 2017. Nominally, a whopping ~40,000 home-purchase agreements were canceled last month. Home purchase cancellations have surged since 2022 as mortgage rates remain historically high. The weekly average 30-year-fixed mortgage rate reached 7.04% last week, the highest since May. My mistake last year was to invest in  $ProShares UltraPro Short QQQ(SQQQ)$ and tried to DCA as it falls. In the end, I had to sell to prevent further loss. This year, plan to invest on good quality companies mainly those with big caps and also try luck to invest in some crypto related investments.

From a peak of $110 in July 2023 to the current price of $53 (as of 31 Jan 2025), $ON Semiconductor(ON)$   has experienced a dramatic correction that has shaken investor confidence. Tariff Tantrum 2025: Into the Unknown

There will be an impact from tariffs on the economy, but outside of some simple impacts to the cost of avocados and $Nike(NKE)$ shoes, the biggest changes will largely be second and third-order effects that are unknown, despite every voice in the media saying they know the exact impact. I’ll get to that in a moment. To start, I want to level set what I think the market will be reacting to this week. Most “smart money” thought the threat of tariffs was a negotiating ploy and wouldn’t happen, at least not yet. I expect there to be some surprise for those who thought tariffs would be more targeted and wouldn’t impact their businesses directly.Investors will need to rethink growth assumptions, inflation expectations, and the impact of tariffs on earning

Autonomous Driving Fits and Starts

Waymo Charges ForwardWe can debate the launch timing of $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ Mobileye, and a dozen other autonomous companies. But $Alphabet(GOOG)$ $Alphabet(GOOGL)$ Waymo is here and expanding.Waymo has been operational in Los Angeles for a while and is now adding freeways, initially for employees, and if history is any indication this will launch to the broader audience in a few months. Ironically, Waymo has kept to the higher-risk city centers and kept off the highway, so this will be a key expansion around the country to make longer haul trips more viable and increase the addressable market.Waymo also announced that it will be going on a “road trip” to Las V

I have not used deepseek yet despite all the rave. Been too busy but will definitely find time to try it out. The fear of competitor for Nvidia is real. AI will evolve at a crazy speed and no one can remain the top forever. I think there will be a sell off by investors to manage risk before the earnings report. Don’t think trump can save Nvidia unless he imposes policies to encourage Nvidia and push deepseek out of the US but that can backfire on the US if it never has the latest technology. So, I do expect Trump to pressure Huang to engage in an AI/ chips race with China just like its arms and space race.
