Gold Undergoes Expected Correction, While U.S. Stock Indices Face Key Resistance Levels
Last week's post was a timely reminder: gold prices were facing correction expectations. As it turned out, stronger-than-expected nonfarm payroll data finally triggered a significant adjustment in gold prices. However, based on historical data of similar gold market trends, this correction is just getting started and remains far from the historical average decline of over 20%. With the Federal Reserve's interest rate meeting approaching next week, gold prices are likely to fall further. $VXX 20250502 61.0 PUT$ VXX: collected full premium on this cash secured put with strike at $61 when it expired on 2nd May. Price action is right on the dot here when VXX closed at $61.01 therefore avoided assignment by $0.01. Wouldn't mind taking in the assignment as I was net short of this counter and in a mission to close out these shorts at lower level below $62 for as much as possible. This expired ones now therefore enable me to sell fresh cash secured put to collect more premium while anticipating volatility to continue to cool down with occasional spike that I could capitalise for more sell calls.

$ANF 20250502 100.0 CALL$ ANF: collected full premium from these covered calls with strike at $100 when they expires worthless on 2nd May. I believe ANF will continue to face headwinds in these tariffs war environment as it's affected by its oversea production in high tariffs countries and also potentially shrinking US consumer appetite. Won't be able to capture much premium if sell at strike $100 so most likely will have to sell at lower range. Or the decision to offload the shares during potentially rising market to get better price and reduce losses on the capital.

$SMCI 20250502 45.0 CALL$ SMCI: collected full premium from these covered calls with strike at $45 when they expires worthless on 2nd May. SMCI had came down quite sharply on 30th April when it disclosed ahead of time of missing revenue and earning targets significantly and had revised down its numbers. Actual earnings will be released on 6th May so we'll see how bad the situation is. Since this one expired worthless, had already replaced with fresh covered calls but with lower strike of around $40 to $43. Lower strike to reflect the lower current price while still trying to maintain sufficient amount of options premium to make it worth.

$SOFI 20250502 15.0 CALL$ SoFI: collected full premium from these covered calls with strike at both $15 and $16.5 when they expired worthless on 2nd May. SoFI shows some signs of recovery when it went up to as high as $14.5 only to sell off after earnings despite earning beats. I viewed it as positive as it allows the sold calls to expire worthless and I can continue to sell fresh ones at higher strike at collect another round of premiums. Slow and gradual increase on SoFI is my preferred outcome since the underlying stocks will also continue to gain in value. Looking to sell fresh ones to replace these expired trades.

$TSLA 20250516 250.0 PUT$ TSLA tested $275-$275.5 price level again twice today and held strong above it. Entered my cash secured put position after TSLA recovered slightly around $277 when it retraced back to $275 level again earlier, which was a great opportunity because it tested that level at least 2 times today. Next level of resistance to watch is $280-$281, else $285. As usual, if TSLA managed to break and hold $285, we are good to see more upside. Will exit position when it hits my price target.
