$OCBC Bank(O39.SI)$   All the 3 Singapore banking stocks outperformed in their recent quarter earnings.  Price is rapidly trending up.  I had been accumulating this OCBC counter since it was priced @$4 decades ago.   Per lot was 1,000 shares then.   With a modest salary, to be able to accumulate the banking shares over time was a big challenge.  I'm glad I persisted.  Now they are serving me as the golden geese that lay golden eggs.

$Intel(INTC)$ A bet in the past and hope it will continue to grow in the future.  Despite a new competition from new CXMT and it expected to dominate the whole of China market going forward in the coming years. At least for the present, Intel will still keep growing maybe not too fast pace,  but a slower pace. Looking at USD150 mark at end of year, I hope. : )

Global equities are in a bull market, US equities are in a broad-based upswing

Weekly S&P500 ChartStorm - 9 August 2026 This week: global equities, technical check, tech stocks, credit and macro, volatility signals, wealth and boomers, the most hated investment... Learnings and conclusions from this week’s charts: Global equities are in a bull market (path of least resistance = higher). US equities are in a broad-based upswing. Investors are scrambling into tech stocks at a record pace. Calm macro is keeping the lid on credit spreads. (but) VIX seasonality says stay alert to Q3 surprises. Overall, the global equity bull market rages on, and with supportive-benign macro the path of least resistance is likely higher. That said, VIX seasonality and known tail risks suggest still having a plan and process on the risk management front…

Celebrating The Success of 2 Singapore Tech Stocks:ST Engineering & AEM

🌟🌟🌟As the National Day fireworks lit up the sky over the National Stadium on August 9, we celebrate more than just lines on a map.  We celebrate a truimph of improbable survival.  As a Singaporean, I am deeply proud of how far our homegrown enterprises have come.  $ST Engineering(S63.SI)$  and $AEM SGD(AWX.SI)$  embody that success. ST Engineering is Singapore's foundational grit, the unyielding fortress guarding our sovereign defence and soaring global aerospace hubs. GOLD: Gold Consolidated and Pulled Back

The most striking development in global financial markets last week was undoubtedly the strong rebound in gold prices. Following the shock of U.S. July nonfarm payroll data falling far short of expectations, spot gold prices surged last Friday to a seven-week high, not only recording their largest weekly gain so far this year but also triggering a marked shift in market expectations regarding the Federal Reserve’s policy path. At the same time, subtle changes in the geopolitical situation in the Middle East provided further support for gold prices. During early Asian trading on Monday (August 10), gold consolidated and pulled back, currently trading around $4,320. This week, the market will see a series of key data releases, among which the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) due out on Wednes

Hedging Tech Portfolios Against Fed Rate Hikes: Macro Strategies and Tiered Allocation

Neither binary extreme—indiscriminate bargain hunting nor panic-selling ("running for your life")—is optimal during macro-driven tech volatility. The sharp swing in technology and semiconductor stocks reflects a market caught between two forces: monetary policy uncertainty heading into the Federal Reserve's September rate decision and heightened scrutiny around AI capital expenditure ROI paired with dot-com era volatility levels. With the Fed split following its July rate hold (where 3 FOMC members dissented in favor of a 25 bps hike), incoming inflation and economic data will dictate whether interest rates stay restricted or rise further. High-growth tech stocks carry high duration, making them disproportionately sensitive to rate fluctuations and yield curve shifts. Portfolio Positioning

(Part 1 of 5) - Economic Review (10Aug2026)

Economic Preview: Key Data Releases (week of 10Aug2026) Singapore Market Holiday Singapore markets will be closed on 10 August as the country observes the National Day holiday. Key Inflation Indicators The key data releases to watch in the coming week are CPI and core CPI. These are widely used inflation indicators and among the data points the Federal Reserve considers when assessing its next interest rate decision. If inflation remains persistent or rises further, the Fed may need to consider raising rates rather than cutting them, which could introduce volatility into equity markets. The Producer Price Index (PPI) for July will also be released. As PPI captures inflationary pressure at the producer level, it can provide an early signal of costs that may later be

(Part 4 of 5) - News and my thoughts from the past week (10Aug2026)

News and my thoughts from the past week (10Aug2026) Amazon is building a natural gas plant in Pecos County, Texas, to power an AI data center. Its permits allow 33 million tons of carbon dioxide a year, which would make it the single largest source of climate pollution in the country. For comparison, the dirtiest plant operating in America today emits about 16 million tons, so Amazon's is permitted for roughly double that. Amazon co-founded The Climate Pledge in 2019 and promised net-zero emissions by 2040. - X user Hedgie Jamie Dimon warns America could lose its reserve currency status within 25 years. - X user Whale Insider Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth told employees that AI productivity gains should go into more work, not more time off. (Part 5 of 5) - my investing muse (10Aug2026)

My Investing Muse (10Aug2026) Layoffs, closures and Delinquencies The first week of August 2026 saw tech-sector layoffs push year-to-date totals past the full-year 2025 figure, with Layoffs.fyi data showing more than 125,000 tech job cuts already recorded across hundreds of companies. Restructuring for efficiency, cost discipline, and capital reallocation toward AI infrastructure remained key drivers.Zillow (4 August): Eliminated just over 500 positions (~7% of workforce), its largest round of the year. CEO Jeremy Wacksman cited the need for a more disciplined cost structure and operational efficiency amid ongoing growth. Nutanix (4 August): Announced an approximate 5% global workforce reduction (roughly 390 roles) to streamline operations, improve agility, and shift resourc

One Design Change at Nvidia Sank Memory and Lifted Optics

Hello. Friday's payrolls report was genuinely bad: July payrolls fell by 23,000, the May and June gains were revised down by a combined 103,000, and hourly earnings rose just 3.2 per cent year on year. $S&P 500(.SPX)$ rose 0.62 per cent to a record close. $NASDAQ(.IXIC)$ rose 1.30 per cent and $Dow Jones(.DJI)$ 0.28 per cent. Data that bad turned out to be good news, because the market immediately cut the odds of a September rate rise to about 44 per cent. Loosen the rate outlook and valuations get room to breathe: $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ ros

Wall Street Is Calling for S&P 8,000 — Is the Last 3% Worth Chasing?

Wall Street has just given the bulls another reason to celebrate. J.P. Morgan raised its 2026 year-end target for the S&P 500 from 7,800 to 8,000. Based on Friday’s close of 7,757.64, however, that leaves only about 3.1% of upside. At least seven Wall Street brokerages now expect the index to reach the 8,000 level by year-end. Reuters The headline sounds extremely bullish. But the more important question is not whether the S&P 500 can gain another 3%. It is why J.P. Morgan became more confident after the index had already reached a record high. This Rally Is Finally Getting More Earnings Support Of the 436 S&P 500 companies that had reported second-quarter results through Friday morning, 85.1% beat analyst expectations. That is well above the long-term average of 68%. J.P. Morg
Wall Street Is Calling for S&P 8,000 — Is the Last 3% Worth Chasing?
TOPShyon: I’m choosing A:Yes, earnings growth will keep driving the S&P 500 higher. What encourages me most about J.P. Morgan’s 8,000 target isn’t the number itself, but the stronger earnings behind it. With more than 85% of companies beating expectations and EPS forecasts rising, the rally is increasingly supported by fundamentals rather than valuation expansion. I also think the AI story is entering a more important phase. It’s no longer just about AI spending, but whether that spending translates into cloud growth, stronger backlogs & real revenue. I’ll continue watching GOOGL, AMZN and MSFT, alongside AI infrastructure names like AMAT and CRWV. That said, I won’t chase the index simply because Wall Street raised its target. CPI & Treasury yields remain key risks. I’ll stay invested, maintain core technology exposure & add gradually on weakness. I’m bullish on 8,000, but I’d rather see earnings drive the market higher than expanding valuations. @Tiger_comments @TigerStars @TigerClub
