9/9 Pre-Market Thoughts: Oil Price Trigger Point

I. Key Events U.S.-Iran Confrontation in the Strait of Hormuz Intensifies Sharply, with Brent crude briefly breaking above $100/barrel. Based on past patterns, the likely sequence is: Trump further escalates tensions and makes hawkish statements → oil prices return to previous highs or even push to new highs → a compromise or deal is reached between the two sides → oil prices pull back. The rhythm is rally first, then decline — chasing highs requires caution against a potential pullback from a resolution. META: New Personal AI Agent "MUSE" Launches — capable of handling daily tasks, with the app rising to #4 in the App Store rankings, driving the stock up 5% pre-market. From EVs to Humanoids: Can China’s Carmakers Find Their Next Growth Engine?

China’s electric-vehicle market is entering a tougher stage. Domestic passenger-car sales fell 23.7% year on year in August, while domestic EV and plug-in hybrid sales declined 10.1%. Exports remain a bright spot, with passenger-vehicle exports rising 77.5% and EV and plug-in hybrid exports climbing 154.7%, but intensifying competition at home is putting greater pressure on automakers to find new sources of growth. For the stock market, this makes the industry’s expanding push into humanoid robotics increasingly relevant. Companies including $XPeng Inc.(XPEV)$, BYD, Chery and GAC are trying to extend capabilities developed for intelligent vehicles—such as AI, batteries, sensors, autonomous systems and advanced manufacturing—into ro
From EVs to Humanoids: Can China’s Carmakers Find Their Next Growth Engine?
TOP苏36: I would pickXPengas the most interesting EV-to-humanoid robotics story, but the bigger opportunity may be the technology crossover itself. XPeng's advantage is not simply having a humanoid prototype. Its experience in intelligent driving, AI, sensors, batteries, electric motors and automated manufacturing gives it a potential foundation for scaling robots. That said, investors should separaterobot demonstrations from commercial reality. The real milestones are production volume, customer orders, pricing, unit economics and recurring revenue. If XPeng can prove that its IRON humanoid can move from the factory floor to profitable mass deployment, the market may stop valuing it purely as an automaker and start viewing it as aPhysical AI company. That valuation shift could be far more important than the robot itself. @TigerObserver [胜利]

Tuesday's Chip Rally Ran on Someone Else's News. Micron's Own Never Made the Close.

All three indexes closed lower on Tuesday, the Dow worst of them at 1.18 per cent, $S&P 500(.SPX)$ down 0.58 per cent and $NASDAQ(.IXIC)$ Composite down 0.32 per cent. Chips went the other way on the same day: Intel put on 9.05 per cent to close at US$104.47, back above US$100 and the biggest gain in the row. The indexes went one way and the chips went the other, and that is the split this day comes down to. What pushed the indexes down was oil. WTI moved above US$94 and Brent came close to US$99, and what pushed oil up were attacks in the Middle East. The attacks fell over the weekend, so they were not in Friday's closing prices and only arrived at Tuesday's open. The
Tuesday's Chip Rally Ran on Someone Else's News. Micron's Own Never Made the Close.
TOPJerry Lam: I would choose not to rush to the next opening, and at least let it complete a full trading day before making a decision. The reason is that Goldman Sachs' view that "the worst may be over" can indeed improve sentiment, but it is an expected recovery, not immediately verifiable orders or earnings data. In particular, neither MU nor SNDK showed strong support in the previous trading day, indicating that the market has not yet formed a consensus on the storage sector. If the market opens higher next time, I'm even less likely to chase it. What I want to see is: whether it can hold after opening higher, whether trading volume continues to increase, whether MU can regain its foothold above $1,000, and whether SK Hynix's strength can drive a resonance in the entire storage sector. These are more important than a single rating opinion. From a fundamental perspective, I still prefer MU because HBM and DRAM prices and capacity realization are relatively easy to track; SNDK, on the other hand, leans more towards the NAND cycle and may have greater elasticity, but also higher volatility. In short: Post-market positive news is most easily impulsive. What is truly valuable is not "how much higher the next stock opens," but whether funds are willing to continue buying it after it opens higher. I'd rather earn less on the first leg than grab the first one.
