When agreement came this past week, the rally continued.
\n
The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 1% on Thursday, and the S&P 500 Industrial Sector added about 0.8%, both outpacing the broader market, as President Joe Biden announced that he had come to an agreement with a group of Republican and Democratic senators on an infrastructure package of roughly $600 billion. And the industrial outperformance continued on Friday.
\n
The package includes some $300 billion for roads, bridges, and other major transportation projects. An additional $266 billion includes water infrastructure, broadband, and power infrastructure. The spending is part of a larger package of approved spending that totals about $1.2 trillion over an eight-year period. The infrastructure bill must still be approved by Congress before Biden can sign it.
\n
Other priorities that Biden had outlined, such as more spending on child-care initiatives, will have to be pursued in a separate package devoted to “human infrastructure,” probably by using the budget reconciliation process in the Senate, where Democrats hold a tie-breaker vote. The bipartisan agreement would probably be tied to the reconciliation bill, as Biden has said he wants both on his desk at the same time.
\n
Still, agreement on the physical infrastructure spending is a victory for political comity, the economy, and potentially a range of stocks and market sectors. “Roughly $600 billion in new spending for roads, bridges, public transit, and broadband as well as a host of other areas would likely be considered a ‘win’ for the White House,” Wells Fargo economist Michael Pugliese said in a note. “As in baseball, a win does not always have to be a home run. Sometimes it pays to just get on base.”
\n
One way to play for further upside in the bipartisan deal is the package’s emphasis on expanding broadband, says Josh Duitz, who runs the $185 million Aberdeen Standard Global Infrastructure Income fund (ticker: ASGI). As of May 31, his portfolio’s holdings included American Tower(AMT). He added that Ferrovial(FER.Spain), a global infrastructure company that builds roads and other projects, would also benefit from the package. It’s another of his holdings. “This is just one more positive catalyst for infrastructure,” Duitz said.
\n
Analysts at Stifel, meanwhile, believe the deal “generates significant upside” for machinery, construction materials, and rental companies.
\n
Stifel said that the beneficiaries of the infrastructure bill include these five companies:Astec Industries(ASTE), whose products include asphalt and concrete;Martin Marietta Materials(MLM), which makes construction materials;Construction Partners(ROAD), which builds roadways;United Rentals(URI); and Vulcan Materials(VMC), which makes construction materials.
\n
Separately on Friday, Jefferies upgraded Martin Marietta Materials and Vulcan Materials to Buy from Hold. It also raised the price targets to $424 and $207, respectively.
\n
Stifel expects other companies to benefit, as well. Those include Caterpillar(CAT),Deere(DE),Manitowoc(MTW),Oshkosh(OSK), and Terex(TEX)—“each of which sells machinery into the infrastructure” market.
","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
These Stocks Could Have ‘Significant Upside’ From Infrastructure Spending
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nThese Stocks Could Have ‘Significant Upside’ From Infrastructure Spending\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-26 10:28 GMT+8 Barrons\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Wall Street has been pricing in an infrastructure bill since the White House unveiled the American Jobs Plan in April. that could take on rivalBoeingin the air cargo market.\nThe air freight market has been a bright spot during the Covid pandemic. Rates surged after the virus and travel restrictions devastated passenger travel, taking airplane belly space out of the market, creating a supply crunch. Snarls at ports have also boosted demand for air cargo.\n“That has somewhat exacerbated the fact that the freighter market is underserved by Airbus today,” Chief Commercial Officer Christian Scherer said on a webcast briefing. “Many of our customers have told us, ‘You have been a formidable force in this industry. ... Please do so on the freighter market as well.’ That’s an important message to take into account.”\nScherer declined to provide details on when the company would make a decision but said “we have some wind in our sails toward seeing the emergency of an A350 freighter.”\nAir cargo demand in April, the latest available data, rose 12% compared with April 2019, before the pandemic, and topped a 2018 peak, according to the International Air Transport Association.\nAirbus rival Boeing produces several freighter aircraft, such as the 747 and 767, for customersUPS,FedExandAtlas Air WorldwideHoldings, contractor forAmazon’s air arm, as well as airlines that have both passenger and air cargo businesses.\nThe pandemic has also fueled a surge in demand for the conversion of retired passenger aircraft into freighters.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":718,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":187686113,"gmtCreate":1623752210932,"gmtModify":1704210505657,"author":{"id":"3573455324256785","authorId":"3573455324256785","name":"Ericchenyl","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3573455324256785","idStr":"3573455324256785"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/187686113","repostId":"2143735244","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2143735244","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Dow Jones publishes the world’s most trusted business news and financial information in a variety of media.","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Dow Jones","id":"106","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/150f88aa4d182df19190059f4a365e99"},"pubTimestamp":1623750480,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2143735244?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-15 17:48","market":"us","language":"en","title":"These energy and EV stocks can still benefit from Biden's infrastructure plan, Citi says","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2143735244","media":"Dow Jones","summary":"Critical information for the trading day.\n\nU.S. stocks got off to a mixed start on Monday, after the","content":"
\n Critical information for the trading day.\n
\n
U.S. stocks got off to a mixed start on Monday, after the S&P 500 notched its 28th record high of the year on Friday.
\n
Investors will be closely watching the Federal Reserve's latest monetary policy decision on Wednesday as well as what Chair Jerome Powell has to say .
\n
President Joe Biden's infrastructure plans are also in focus, after talks with Senate Republicans over a $1.7 trillion deal collapsed last week. Bipartisan efforts over a compromise are continuing, while a Democratic-only Reconciliation Bill is also seen as an option. Biden has set a summer deadline for Congress to pass his top legislative priority.
\n
In our call of the day, Citi strategists looked at the prospects for Biden's infrastructure plans and the stocks that are likely to benefit.
\n
The strategists, led by Edward Morse, said it now looked likely that passable legislation would be below the $1.7 trillion of infrastructure but higher than $1 trillion. The team looked at which areas would still make the cut in terms of spending.
\n
\"Enhanced policy support for carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) likely survives and would have bipartisan support if a reconciliation process fails,\" they said.
\n
CCUS involves capturing carbon dioxide from large sources, such as power plants, and storing it to be recycled.
Tesla, for instance, is controversial because Wall Street is debating whether it should be valued so much more richly than other auto makers. Airlines are still recovering from their Covid-19 slump. And analysts don’t agree over how well Netflix can stand up to mounting competition in streaming video.
\n
Some controversy isn’t that easy to understand.Barron’sisn’t sure, for example, why Wall Street is divided over paint (Sherwin), toothpaste (Colgate). and cans (Ball), but the spread is wide for each stock.
\n
That lack of clarity links to a key point. Stock screens can be used to mine for potential ideas, but they aren’t a full investment thesis. Each company needs to be evaluated on its own merits.
\n
The controversy over the 2020 list has now died down as an improving economy has brightened the prospects of companies in a range of industries. The average bull-bear spread has fallen to below 100% of the current stock price as views have converged and the stocks have risen.
\n
If the economy keeps improving, the current list of controversial stocks could also be higher at this time in 2022.
","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why These 24 Controversial S&P 500 Stocks Could Be Worth Buying
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy These 24 Controversial S&P 500 Stocks Could Be Worth Buying\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-17 10:24 GMT+8 Barrons\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Controversy about stocks usually points at risk, excessive volatility, and the potential for large losses, but it can also be an opportunity for investors with ironclad constitutions. The average bull-bear spread for the 2021 list of the 24 most controversial S&P 500 stocks is about 120%, and the list of names is more diverse.\nCompanies that qualified include Tesla,Sherwin-Williams(SHW),Dish Network(DISH),ViacomCBS(VIAC),Penn National Gaming(PENN),Under Armour(UAA),Advanced Micro Devices (AMD),Western Digital(WDC),ResMed(RMD),Freeport-McMoRan(FCX),Discovery(DISCA),Micron Technology(MU),American Airlines(AAL),Hanesbrands(HBI),Netflix(NFLX),Nov(NOV),L Brands(LB),Incyte(INCY),Colgate-Palmolive(CL),Carnival(CCL),General Electric (GE),Schlumberger(SLB),Twitter(TWTR) and Ball(BLL).\nWall Street Divided\nThe most extreme bull bear spreads for stocks in the S&P 500.\n\n\n\nCompany / Ticker\nMarket Cap (bil)\n2022 PE Ratio\nBull Bear Spread\n\n\n\n\nSherwin-Williams / SHW\n$72.8\n25.9\n207%\n\n\nTesla / TSLA\n587.5\n95.1\n184\n\n\nDish Network / DISH\n21.1\n14.4\n182\n\n\nViacomCBS / VIAC\n27.7\n10.4\n160\n\n\nPenn National Gaming / PENN\n12.6\n30.2\n149\n\n\nUnder Armour / UAA\n8.8\n43.3\n140\n\n\nAdvanced Micro Devices / AMD\n99.1\n30.3\n133\n\n\nWestern Digital / WDC\n22.9\n8.7\n121\n\n\nResmed / RMD\n33.7\n41.9\n114\n\n\nFreeport-McMoran / FCX\n57.9\n11.7\n109\n\n\nDiscovery / DISCA\n21.8\n9.8\n107\n\n\nMicron Technology / MU\n90.3\n7.3\n107\n\n\nAmerican Airlines / ALL\n14.7\nn/a\n104\n\n\nHanesbrands / HBI\n6.7\n11.4\n100\n\n\nNetflix / NFLX\n217.4\n39.0\n98\n\n\nNov / NOV\n6.6\n76.8\n96\n\n\nL Brands / LB\n18.2\n11.6\n96\n\n\nIncyte / INCY\n18.2\n18.1\n95\n\n\nColgate-Palmolive / CL\n70.6\n23.9\n94\n\n\nCarnival / CCL\n32.0\n107.7\n91\n\n\nGeneral Electric / GE\n119.6\n25.9\n89\n\n\nSchlumberger / SLB\n47.6\n21.2\n89\n\n\nTwitter / TWTR\n48.6\n55.7\n88\n\n\nBall / BLL\n26.6\n20.1\n86\n\n\n\nSome of this year’s divergence in views is easy to understand. Tesla, for instance, is controversial because Wall Street is debating whether it should be valued so much more richly than other auto makers. Airlines are still recovering from their Covid-19 slump. And analysts don’t agree over how well Netflix can stand up to mounting competition in streaming video.\nSome controversy isn’t that easy to understand.Barron’sisn’t sure, for example, why Wall Street is divided over paint (Sherwin), toothpaste (Colgate). and cans (Ball), but the spread is wide for each stock.\nThat lack of clarity links to a key point. Stock screens can be used to mine for potential ideas, but they aren’t a full investment thesis. Each company needs to be evaluated on its own merits.\nThe controversy over the 2020 list has now died down as an improving economy has brightened the prospects of companies in a range of industries. The average bull-bear spread has fallen to below 100% of the current stock price as views have converged and the stocks have risen.\nIf the economy keeps improving, the current list of controversial stocks could also be higher at this time in 2022.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":658,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":160356999,"gmtCreate":1623773306411,"gmtModify":1703819081797,"author":{"id":"3573455324256785","authorId":"3573455324256785","name":"Ericchenyl","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3573455324256785","idStr":"3573455324256785"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/160356999","repostId":"1187102856","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1187102856","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1623767520,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1187102856?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-06-15 22:32","market":"uk","language":"en","title":"Airbus hints at a freighter version of its A350 to tap into hot cargo market","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1187102856","media":"cnbc","summary":"KEY POINTS\n\nThe European manufacturer says it is considering a wide-body freighter.\nChief Commercial","content":"
\n
KEY POINTS\n\nThe European manufacturer says it is considering a wide-body freighter.\nChief Commercial Officer Christian Scherer said Airbus \"underserves\" the freighter market.\nBoeing aircraft dominates...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Rates surged after the virus and travel restrictions devastated passenger travel, taking airplane belly space out of the market, creating a supply crunch. Snarls at ports have also boosted demand for air cargo.\n“That has somewhat exacerbated the fact that the freighter market is underserved by Airbus today,” Chief Commercial Officer Christian Scherer said on a webcast briefing. “Many of our customers have told us, ‘You have been a formidable force in this industry. ... Please do so on the freighter market as well.’ That’s an important message to take into account.”\nScherer declined to provide details on when the company would make a decision but said “we have some wind in our sails toward seeing the emergency of an A350 freighter.”\nAir cargo demand in April, the latest available data, rose 12% compared with April 2019, before the pandemic, and topped a 2018 peak, according to the International Air Transport Association.\nAirbus rival Boeing produces several freighter aircraft, such as the 747 and 767, for customersUPS,FedExandAtlas Air WorldwideHoldings, contractor forAmazon’s air arm, as well as airlines that have both passenger and air cargo businesses.\nThe pandemic has also fueled a surge in demand for the conversion of retired passenger aircraft into freighters.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":718,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
