They're just simple, cash-driving business being very well run.","content":"
Although the past several months have been far more bullish for growth stocks than they've been for dividend-paying names, it's not as if dividend stocks no longer serve a distinct purpose. Plenty of income-minded investors are still collecting regular dividend payments, many of whom depend on these payments to help pay monthly bills. Even the low-rate environment hasn't changed the ultimate need for usable investment cash flow.
\n
With that as the backdrop, here's a closer look at three great dividend stocks you may not have thought of in your quest to secure recurring income. Note that all three boast a yield better than the S&P 500's current average yield of just under 1.3%.
\n
The Williams Companies
\n
Dividend yield: 6.8%
\n
It may not be a household name, but there's a good chance you or someone in your household ultimately relies on the service provided by The Williams Companies (NYSE:WMB).
\n
If you're unfamiliar, The Williams Companies owns and operates more than 30,000 miles of natural gas pipeline capable of delivering it to and from the northeast U.S. to the Gulf of Mexico, and to and from the Pacific northeast to the very middle of the country.
\n
\n
It's easy to lump pipeline companies in with other energy stocks, and presume they're just as subject to oil price volatility as drillers and refiners are. That's not quite the case, though. Regardless of crude oil's price, the nation still consumes a relatively fixed amount of it -- and natural gas -- on any given day. Even with last year's sweeping shutdowns of many commercial enterprises, for instance, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reports the nation only used about 3% less gas than it did in 2019. Plenty of income-minded investors are still collecting regular dividend payments, many of whom depend on these payments to help pay monthly bills. Even the low-rate environment hasn't changed the ultimate need for usable investment cash flow.\nWith that as the backdrop, here's a closer look at three great dividend stocks you may not have thought of in your quest to secure recurring income. Note that all three boast a yield better than the S&P 500's current average yield of just under 1.3%.\nThe Williams Companies\nDividend yield: 6.8%\nIt may not be a household name, but there's a good chance you or someone in your household ultimately relies on the service provided by The Williams Companies (NYSE:WMB).\nIf you're unfamiliar, The Williams Companies owns and operates more than 30,000 miles of natural gas pipeline capable of delivering it to and from the northeast U.S. to the Gulf of Mexico, and to and from the Pacific northeast to the very middle of the country.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nIt's easy to lump pipeline companies in with other energy stocks, and presume they're just as subject to oil price volatility as drillers and refiners are. This year's and next year's projected usage is on par with 2019's usage. That's great news for Williams, as the price it charges to deliver natural gas from point A to point B is actually quite steady, untethered to the price at which that gas is being bought or sold.\nIn other words, The Williams Companies is a tollbooth.\nIt's also a tollbooth with more potential for longevity than investors might presume, given the growing interest in alternative energy sources. The IEA forecasts that global demand for natural gas will grow every year for the next four years (including 2021), hitting a new consumption record in each of those years, and McKinsey believes gas usage will be the fastest-growing fossil fuel source all the way through 2035.\nPoint being, the world is nowhere near ready to simply abandon the use of natural gas.\nIBM\nDividend yield: 4.8%\nYes, old Big Blue may be only a shell of its former self. But International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) is still a dividend machine not to be doubted. Even in the face of waning earnings the company has not only continued to pay a quarterly dividend, but continues to increase it. He commented in his 2020 letter to shareholders, \"hybrid cloud and AI are the two next great shifts in the technology landscape, and IBM is positioning itself to play a key role in this swift and massive transformation.\" And right on cue, last quarter's revenue growth was the company's best in three years, led by its cloud offerings.\nGranted, the comparison was being made to suppressed, pandemic-crimped results. Nevertheless, the results suggest that the reshaping of IBM's portfolio to more cloud-driven products and software-driven recurring revenue is a move in the right direction that will support continued dividend payments.\nFifth Third Bancorp\nDividend yield: 2.8%\nFinally, add Fifth Third Bancorp (NASDAQ:FITB) to your list of dividend stocks you may not have been thinking about but could easily fall in love with.\nIt's not a top-of-mind name for investors looking to bank stocks to provide dividend income. That honor usually belongs to a bigger name like Bank of America or even the ever-drama-laden Wells Fargo.\nThere's much to be said for smaller banks like Fifth Third, though, like the fact that they're more nimble and typically less exposed to more erratic business lines like investment banking, underwriting, stock trading and clearing for institutional brokerage clients, and other business lines the average consumer doesn't see or use on a daily basis. since May 2020 -EIA
\n
TOKYO, Aug 17 (Reuters) - Oil prices were mixed on Tuesday, paring earlier gains, as expectations that major producers will not boost supply any time soon were offset by worries over slowing global fuel demand amid a spike in the Delta variant of coronavirus infections.
\n
Brent crude was down 2 cents at $69.49 a barrel as of 0410 GMT, after rising as high as $69.77 earlier in the session.
\n
U.S. West Intermediate crude edged 2 cents higher to $67.31 a barrel, after reaching $67.66 earlier.
\n
Brent slid 1.5% on Monday while WTI fell 1.7%.
\n
The prices recovered from the previous day's losses in early Asia trade after four sources told Reuters that OPEC+ - the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, including Russia - believes oil markets do not need more crude than they plan to release in the coming months, despite U.S. pressure to add supplies to check an oil price rise.
\n
Last week, U.S. President Joe Biden's administration urged the producer group to boost oil output to tackle rising gasoline prices that they see as a threat to the global economic recovery.
\n
But the market ran out of steam mid-session amid concerns over the resurgence in the COVID-19 pandemic.
\n
\"The overall market sentiment is weak,\" said Tetsu Emori, CEO of Emori Fund Management Inc.
\n
\"High fuel demand season in northern hemisphere summer is almost ending, while the spreading pandemic is delaying a recovery in global fuel demand,\" Emori said, predicting a continued bearish tone in the markets going forward.
\n
Worries over weaker demand in China, the world's biggest oil importer, grew on Monday after the nation's daily crude processing last month fell to the lowest since May 2020 as independent plants slashed production amid a tighter quotas, high inventories and weakening profits.
\n
China's factory output and retail sales growth also slowed sharply and missed expectations in July, as new COVID-19 outbreaks and floods disrupted business operations, adding to signs the economic recovery is losing momentum.
\n
Hedge funds sold petroleum last week for the sixth time in eight weeks as resurgent coronavirus infections in China, Europe and North America dampened hopes of a rapid resumption in long-distance passenger aviation.
\n
Still, the market shrugged off rising output in U.S. shale oil, Toshitaka Tazawa, an analyst at Fujitomi Securities Co Ltd said.
\n
U.S. shale oil output is expected to rise to 8.1 million barrels per day (bpd) in September, the highest since May 2020, according to the Energy Information Administration's monthly drilling productivity report on Monday.
\n
\"WTI has a support at around $65 and investors tend to look for bargains whenever the benchmark gets closer to the level as we have seen on Monday and last week,\" Tazawa said.
","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE Sometimes, the coming winners are relatively easy to spot, but in other cases, their strengths only become clear to everyone with the benefit of hindsight.
\n
I feel that Roku (NASDAQ:ROKU) and Sleep Number (NASDAQ:SNBR) -- yes, Sleep Number -- could be among the stocks that power the next bull market. Here's why.
\n
\n
Roku
\n
Roku stock is not a particularly popular bet on Wall Street these days. Some traders see it as an earlier-stage pandemic play that will flounder now that we're once again spending more time outside of our homes and less time streaming escapism. Last week, Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) rolled out a new line of Fire TV HDTVs, including the first-ever Amazon-built television.
\n
Let's tackle the Amazon challenge first. The new sets pack impressive specs at even more impressive prices. They start as low as $370 for an Alexa-fueled experience that feeds right into the Amazon Fire TV ecosystem. But will they become popular enough to dethrone Roku?
\n
Flat screens with built-in smart TV hardware and software platforms are popular, and Roku currently commands 38% of that market. However, for most consumers, the solution often comes down to just buying a $20 or $30 dongle -- cheap tech that a person can take with them wherever they travel, and that will also outlive the obsolescence of whatever gargantuan HDTV they own.
\n
Roku has been competing with Amazon's cutthroat pricing for the past seven years. And it has steadily found ways to compete with challengers that include three of the world's most valuable tech titans.
\n
There are now 55.1 million active users who rely on Roku to feed their streaming habits -- to the tune of more than three hours of viewing a day, on average. Roku's audience has grown by 28% over the past year, and average revenue per user rose by 46% as marketers paid up to reach Roku's engaged audience.
\n
One should never underestimate the power of a hungry Amazon, but Roku will continue to be the bar-raising leader. It's the obvious pick for consumers coveting its service agnosticism and its thousands of available apps. Its recent push into original content is just the cherry on top for the undisputed champ of streaming service stocks.
\n
Are we spending more time outside now? Sure! Will you still come back to watch the perpetually widening options of great must-see TV? Absolutely. Why do you think Amazon is making its own TVs now?
\n
\n
Sleep Number
\n
Some people put their money under their mattress, but smart investors may want to consider investing some of their money in the mattress. Sleep Number makes air-chambered mattresses with easily adjustable firmness based on a sleeper's desires.
\n
Sleep Number has always stood out within a challenging mattress market thanks to its differentiated product, and it stands out even more now that it has debuted its Sleep Number 360 bed. Billed as the company's first smart bed, it monitors people's sleep levels and adjusts for them throughout the night. From firmness, heat or cooling, and even elevation levels, Sleep Number provides a customized experience with tech that none of its peers can offer.
\n
Customers love it. Sleep Number sales soared by 70% in its latest quarter. A lot of companies have been cranking out ridiculous year-over-year growth numbers lately because the early stage of the pandemic -- 2020's second quarter -- was so challenging. But even measured against the more normal climate that prevailed in Q2 2019, Sleep Number's top line was up by 36% -- and its bottom line is growing even faster.
\n
Investors weren't impressed by Sleep Number's latest report. It was actually a rare miss on the bottom line, and management had warned that supply chain constraints would drag on its operations in June and July. Thankfully, these are all transitory troubles. We've been spending a lot more time at home over the past two years, and putting extra wear and tear on our beds. Sometimes, the coming winners are relatively easy to spot, but in other cases, their strengths only become clear to everyone with the benefit of hindsight.\nI feel that Roku (NASDAQ:ROKU) and Sleep Number (NASDAQ:SNBR) -- yes, Sleep Number -- could be among the stocks that power the next bull market. Here's why.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nRoku\nRoku stock is not a particularly popular bet on Wall Street these days. Some traders see it as an earlier-stage pandemic play that will flounder now that we're once again spending more time outside of our homes and less time streaming escapism. Last week, Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) rolled out a new line of Fire TV HDTVs, including the first-ever Amazon-built television.\nLet's tackle the Amazon challenge first. The new sets pack impressive specs at even more impressive prices. They start as low as $370 for an Alexa-fueled experience that feeds right into the Amazon Fire TV ecosystem. But will they become popular enough to dethrone Roku?\nFlat screens with built-in smart TV hardware and software platforms are popular, and Roku currently commands 38% of that market. However, for most consumers, the solution often comes down to just buying a $20 or $30 dongle -- cheap tech that a person can take with them wherever they travel, and that will also outlive the obsolescence of whatever gargantuan HDTV they own.\nRoku has been competing with Amazon's cutthroat pricing for the past seven years. And it has steadily found ways to compete with challengers that include three of the world's most valuable tech titans.\nThere are now 55.1 million active users who rely on Roku to feed their streaming habits -- to the tune of more than three hours of viewing a day, on average. Roku's audience has grown by 28% over the past year, and average revenue per user rose by 46% as marketers paid up to reach Roku's engaged audience.\nOne should never underestimate the power of a hungry Amazon, but Roku will continue to be the bar-raising leader. It's the obvious pick for consumers coveting its service agnosticism and its thousands of available apps. Its recent push into original content is just the cherry on top for the undisputed champ of streaming service stocks.\nAre we spending more time outside now? Sure! Will you still come back to watch the perpetually widening options of great must-see TV? Absolutely. Why do you think Amazon is making its own TVs now?\nImage source: Sleep Number.\nSleep Number\nSome people put their money under their mattress, but smart investors may want to consider investing some of their money in the mattress. Sleep Number makes air-chambered mattresses with easily adjustable firmness based on a sleeper's desires.\nSleep Number has always stood out within a challenging mattress market thanks to its differentiated product, and it stands out even more now that it has debuted its Sleep Number 360 bed. Billed as the company's first smart bed, it monitors people's sleep levels and adjusts for them throughout the night. From firmness, heat or cooling, and even elevation levels, Sleep Number provides a customized experience with tech that none of its peers can offer.\nCustomers love it. Sleep Number sales soared by 70% in its latest quarter. A lot of companies have been cranking out ridiculous year-over-year growth numbers lately because the early stage of the pandemic -- 2020's second quarter -- was so challenging. But even measured against the more normal climate that prevailed in Q2 2019, Sleep Number's top line was up by 36% -- and its bottom line is growing even faster.\nInvestors weren't impressed by Sleep Number's latest report. It was actually a rare miss on the bottom line, and management had warned that supply chain constraints would drag on its operations in June and July. Thankfully, these are all transitory troubles. We've been spending a lot more time at home over the past two years, and putting extra wear and tear on our beds. When it comes time to upgrade your mattress -- and you may be due about now -- don't be surprised if Sleep Number winds up being your first choice. Will that make Sleep Number a growth stock to own for the next bull market? Sleep on it.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":723,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":804311527,"gmtCreate":1627921629569,"gmtModify":1703498013722,"author":{"id":"4087549167151930","authorId":"4087549167151930","name":"Betterjob","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3a6e660c283e305dd2a1669316c2511b","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"4087549167151930","authorIdStr":"4087549167151930"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"I OPEC+ sees no need to meet U.S. call for more supply -sources\n* China refinery output falls to lowest in 14 months\n* U.S. shale oil output to rise to highest since May 2020 -EIA\nTOKYO, Aug 17 (Reuters) - Oil prices were mixed on Tuesday, paring earlier gains, as expectations that major producers will not boost supply any time soon were offset by worries over slowing global fuel demand amid a spike in the Delta variant of coronavirus infections.\nBrent crude was down 2 cents at $69.49 a barrel as of 0410 GMT, after rising as high as $69.77 earlier in the session.\nU.S. West Intermediate crude edged 2 cents higher to $67.31 a barrel, after reaching $67.66 earlier.\nBrent slid 1.5% on Monday while WTI fell 1.7%.\nThe prices recovered from the previous day's losses in early Asia trade after four sources told Reuters that OPEC+ - the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, including Russia - believes oil markets do not need more crude than they plan to release in the coming months, despite U.S. pressure to add supplies to check an oil price rise.\nLast week, U.S. President Joe Biden's administration urged the producer group to boost oil output to tackle rising gasoline prices that they see as a threat to the global economic recovery.\nBut the market ran out of steam mid-session amid concerns over the resurgence in the COVID-19 pandemic.\n\"The overall market sentiment is weak,\" said Tetsu Emori, CEO of Emori Fund Management Inc.\n\"High fuel demand season in northern hemisphere summer is almost ending, while the spreading pandemic is delaying a recovery in global fuel demand,\" Emori said, predicting a continued bearish tone in the markets going forward.\nWorries over weaker demand in China, the world's biggest oil importer, grew on Monday after the nation's daily crude processing last month fell to the lowest since May 2020 as independent plants slashed production amid a tighter quotas, high inventories and weakening profits.\nChina's factory output and retail sales growth also slowed sharply and missed expectations in July, as new COVID-19 outbreaks and floods disrupted business operations, adding to signs the economic recovery is losing momentum.\nHedge funds sold petroleum last week for the sixth time in eight weeks as resurgent coronavirus infections in China, Europe and North America dampened hopes of a rapid resumption in long-distance passenger aviation.\nStill, the market shrugged off rising output in U.S. shale oil, Toshitaka Tazawa, an analyst at Fujitomi Securities Co Ltd said.\nU.S. shale oil output is expected to rise to 8.1 million barrels per day (bpd) in September, the highest since May 2020, according to the Energy Information Administration's monthly drilling productivity report on
