ASX Opens 0.9pc Lower

The S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.9 per cent, or 68.2 points, to 7137.4 in the opening minutes of trade, dragged lower by a 2.4 per cent drop by the technology sector.
Westpac climbed 1.6 per cent to $24.21 after reporting a $3.1 billion cash profit for the first half. Suncorp added 0.3 per cent to $11.34 on its quarterly results.
Magellan declined 3.8 per cent to $16.60 after offloading its 11.6 per cent interest in Guzman y Gomez for $140 million.
News Corp plunged 10.2 per cent to $23.87, while Block declined 5.8 per cent to $134.61.
