The two companies announced on Friday that Palo Alto Networks will transition its core internal workloads to Google Cloud Platform through this new multi-billion dollar agreement.

This agreement extends the existing strategic partnership between the firms and will deepen their engineering collaboration, according to joint statements.

A press release revealed that Palo Alto Networks is already using Google's Gemini AI models to power its intelligent assistant tools, along with Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform.

"Every corporate board is asking the same question - how to harness AI's power while preventing new threats to their business. This partnership answers that question," said BJ Jenkins, President of Palo Alto Networks, in a statement.

The cybersecurity leader has previously established over 75 joint integration solutions with Google Cloud, with cumulative sales through Google Cloud Marketplace reaching $2 billion.

The enhanced partnership will enable Palo Alto Networks' customers to secure real-time AI workloads and data on Google Cloud, maintain unified security policies, accelerate Google Cloud Platform deployments, and streamline security solutions, the companies stated.

Palo Alto Networks' shares rose 1% in Friday trading, while Alphabet's stock remained largely unchanged.

"This upgraded partnership ensures our joint customers get the right solutions to protect their most critical AI infrastructure and develop next-generation AI agents with built-in security from inception," said Matt Renner, President of Google Cloud, in a statement.
