Iran said it is reviewing a US peace proposal as both sides seek to avoid a resumption of hostilities, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei. He said Iran has received Washington’s views and is assessing them, adding that discussions are based on Iran’s earlier 14-point proposal.
The plan reportedly envisions a short-term arrangement involving reopening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting a blockade on Iranian ports, followed by broader negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program. Iran also reiterated demands for guarantees that fighting would end across multiple fronts, including Lebanon, and called for the unfreezing of sanctioned assets.
US stock futures turned up in premarket trading. Dow Jones Futures up 0.18%; S&P futures up 0.1%; Nasdaq futures up 0.04%. Oil futures fell around 1%.
