据华尔街日报报道，阿拉伯官员称，在遭受伊朗袭击后，阿联酋正准备协助美国及其盟友通过武力手段开辟霍尔木兹海峡。此举将使阿联酋成为首个直接参战的海湾国家。
官员们表示，阿联酋目前正游说联合国安理会通过一项授权此类军事行动的决议。一位阿联酋官员透露，其外交官已敦促美国以及欧洲、亚洲的军事大国组建联盟，以武力强行打通海峡。该官员补充称，伊朗政权认为自己正在为生存而战，并甘愿通过锁死海峡来拉全球经济陪葬。该官员还表示，阿联酋正在积极评估其在保障海峡安全方面可承担的军事角色，包括协助清除水雷及提供其他支持服务。
此外，部分阿拉伯官员提到，这一海湾国家还提议美国应占领该战略水道内的相关岛屿，包括已被伊朗控制半个世纪、但阿联酋声称拥有主权的阿布穆萨岛。
