标普500指数已经在相当长的一段时间内维持上涨趋势，如果本周五之前没有出现大规模抛售，将意味着该指数在近200个交易日中并未从近期高点回调5%或以上，这是自 2016 年以来最长的繁荣期。2016年市场在近404个交易日中没有出现5%以上的回调。
MarketWatch市场编辑Mark DeCambre指出，市场经历如此漫长的繁荣时期极为罕见。事实上，标普500指数在长时间里没有出现5%或以上回调的情况只发生过8次。
尽管投资者对负面因素的担忧加剧，市场还是随着经济复苏而攀升。投资者正在市场展开角逐，押注那些将从经济全面反弹中获益的板块。
周一的买盘帮助道琼斯工业平均指数和准普500指数分别创下2021年第35和第49个历史收盘新高。与此同时，纳斯达克综合指数略高于8月5日创下的历史高点。
那么，在经历了如此漫长的繁荣期之后，市场在一段时间内的表现如何?
从中位数来看，市场在繁荣期结束的次年将下跌1.2%，但两年内将上涨17.6%，随后的5年上涨55%。从均值来看，平均回报率较高，分别上涨6.5%、27.4%和64%。
