WALL STREET GAINS EARLY; PALANTIR TECHNOLOGIES RALLIES
U.S. stocks are higher in morning Tuesday trading, with a more than 1% gain in the Nasdaq composite .IXIC leading the way up along with energy and technology shares.
Shares of Palantir Technologies PLTR.O are up about 27% and helping to boost the Nasdaq after the company late Monday gave an upbeat 2025 revenue outlook, and an executive at the company said Palantir recommends that its clients steer clear of Chinese startup DeepSeek's AI models.
Energy .SPNY up about 2%, and tech .SPLRCT up about 1.4%, are the leading S&P 500 .SPX sectors. Staples .SPLRCS and healthcare .SPXHC, both off around 0.9%, are the weakest groups.
Keeping investors on edge, however, is news that China retaliated against new trade restrictions announced by U.S. President Donald Trump with counter tariffs.
