Apple (AAPL) plans to incorporate Alibaba Group's (BABA) AI technology into its devices, multiple news outlets reported Thursday, citing Alibaba Chairman Joseph Tsai's announcement during the World Government Summit.
No financial information was disclosed.
The partnership will reportedly help Apple compete with local companies, but Tsai did not specify whether Alibaba would be Apple's sole AI provider.
The media outlets added that Tsai noted that Apple's compliance with local regulations requires partnerships with accredited Chinese firms, which he expects to continue for the foreseeable future.
Neither Alibaba nor Apple immediately responded to MT Newswires' request for comment.
AliBaba's shares were up 1% in recent Thursday premarket activity.
