Jobless Claims Rise To Highest Level Since October, Led By New York -- MarketWatch

Initial jobless claims jumped by to 18,000 to 241,000 in the week ended April 26, the Labor Department said Thursday. That's the highest level since early October.
The boost in claims came mainly from a gain in New York, which often sees in increase during the spring around school holidays.
