Berkshire Hathaway's board of directors has voted for Greg Abel to step in as chief executive on Jan. 1, 2026.
Abel is currently Berkshire's vice chairman of non-insurance operations.
Chief Executive Warren Buffett plans to remain as chairman of the board.
