New Zealand's Total Foreign Currency Reserves Rise In December 2025

The total foreign currency reserve assets held by the New Zealand Reserve Bank amounted to NZ$29.52 billion in December 2025, up from NZ$22.94 billion in the same period in 2024 and down from NZ$33.99 billion in November 2025.

The total foreign currency reserves and other reserve assets rose to NZ$39.01 billion in 2025 from NZ$30.52 billion in 2024. November 2025 recorded a total of NZ$45.51 billion.

Treasury's reserve position at the International Monetary Fund amounted to NZ$749 million in December 2025, up from NZ$723 million in 2024, and remained flat from November 2025.

Meanwhile, special drawing rights rose to NZ$5.1 billion in December 2025 from NZ$5.04 billion in December 2024. November 2025 remained steady at NZ$5.1 billion.
