President Donald Trump on August 13 threw his full support behind Peter Oberacker, a Republican candidate for New York's 19th Congressional District, while sharply criticizing his Democratic opponent, Josh Riley. In a post on X, Trump described Oberacker as a "very successful 'Meat Market' Businessman, Dedicated Public Servant" and current State Senator, endorsing him as "the next Representative from New York’s 19th Congressional District."
Trump accused Riley, whom he called a "true Radical Left Extremist," of supporting open borders, allowing men to play in women's sports, transgender rights, defunding the police, and opposing the Second Amendment. He also claimed Riley voted against "the Biggest Tax Cut in History" and fought to eliminate rural healthcare. Trump further noted that Riley served as counsel to "Sleepy Joe Biden" in the White House, asserting that Riley is "totally controlled by the Radical Left."
In contrast, Trump praised Oberacker's record as a public servant and businessman, promising that he would fight to grow the economy, cut taxes, secure the border, stop migrant crime, protect the Second Amendment, and advance election integrity. The endorsement concluded with Trump's declaration: "Peter Oberacker has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Representative from New York’s 19th Congressional District — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!"
