President Donald Trump announced on August 12 that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will depart her role at the end of the month to spend more time with her family, while transitioning to a position as one of his top outside advisors and an influential voice within the Republican Party.
"Karoline will now be one of my top outside advisors, and an influential voice within the Republican Party, as we work to defy History, and conclusively win the Midterm Elections," Trump wrote in a post on X. He praised Leavitt as "one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the History of the Office" and noted her service since 2018, including the Historic Re-Election Campaign of 2024.
Trump emphasized that he fully understands and respects her decision to prioritize her young children and family. Leavitt's departure will take effect at the end of August, and she will continue to serve as a key political ally outside the administration.
