President Donald Trump announced on August 12 that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will depart her role at the end of the month to spend more time with her young children and family. Trump stated that Leavitt will become one of his top outside advisors and an influential voice within the Republican Party as they work to "defy History, and conclusively win the Midterm Elections."
Trump praised Leavitt as "one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the History of the Office," noting her leadership since 2018, including the 2024 re-election campaign. He said, "Karoline has been a real leader in the White House, and has done a phenomenal job fighting for Justice, Liberty, and Freedom."
The President expressed understanding and respect for Leavitt's decision, calling her one of his most trusted aides. Leavitt's transition to an outside advisory role is effective immediately following her departure at month's end.
