President Donald Trump announced on August 18 the nomination of Courtney Coker to serve as a judge on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Coker, a federal prosecutor for nearly 20 years, currently serves as the First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas. He has prosecuted some of the toughest criminal cases in the country, including against cartels, foreign gangs, and drug and human traffickers.
A graduate of Centre College, where he was captain of the football team, and Mississippi College School of Law, Coker brings extensive legal experience to the bench. Trump expressed strong support for the nomination, stating, "The people of Texas (I LOVE TEXAS!) are lucky to have such a strong defender of Law and Order on the Bench." The President concluded with congratulations to Coker.
