Monetary Authority of Singapore Rolls Out Incentives to Boost Asset Management Industry

MT Newswires08-19 13:50

The Monetary Authority of Singapore has rolled out a number of incentives to improve the country's competitiveness as a leading global asset management hub amid intensifying international competition, according to a Wednesday statement.

The measures include a proposed tax exemption for profit-related returns from fund management services to qualifying funds, a new hedge fund investment program and an Investment Management Track under the Overseas Networks & Expertise, or ONE, Pass framework.

The tax exemption, which has been jointly proposed by the central bank and the Ministry of Finance, is expected to take effect from the Year of Assessment 2027. It will apply to qualifying profit-related returns received through commercial fund arrangements, with further details to be announced at Budget 2027.

MAS will also launch a Hedge Fund Investment Programme to invest with managers committed to establishing or expanding their Singapore presence, supporting the broader hedge fund ecosystem and related service providers.

The new ONE Pass track, developed with the Ministry of Manpower, will target global leaders and senior investment professionals. It may refine salary assessments to recognize investment-performance-linked compensation.

The measures are intended to attract investment, capital and talent while supporting high-quality jobs for locals.
